SOUHRN

Mnoho veterinárních lékařů během své kariéry ošetří stovky případů parodontitidy, ale pouze několik případů zubního kazu. Tento dojem však může být částečně důsledkem poddiagnostikování onemocnění. Kazy bývají malé, často asymptomatické a při rutinním vyšetření bez důkladného hodnocení okluzních ploch mohou snadno uniknout pozornosti.

Cílem tohoto článku je shrnout současné poznatky o etiologii, diagnostice a léčbě zubního kazu u psů a současně prezentovat klinické zkušenosti autora.

SUMMARY

Many veterinarians will treat hundreds of cases of periodontal disease during their careers yet encounter only a few cases of dental caries. However, this impression may be partly due to underdiagnosis of the condition. Carious lesions are often small, clinically silent, and can easily be overlooked during routine oral examinations if the occlusal surfaces are not carefully evaluated.

The aim of this article is to summarize the current knowledge on the etiology, diagnosis, and treatment of dental caries in dogs, while also presenting the author's clinical experience.
