The Association of Avian Veterinarians (AAV) presents its 28th Annual Conference & Expo with the Association of Exotic Mammal Veterinarians.
The 2007 conference is titled Experience Providence and will be held August 4-10 at the Westin Hotel in Providence, Rhode Island. The conference site is located downtown and many fun activities are planned throughout the week. Register now for early bird rates - Registration is now open.
We have added a day to the beginning of the conference week in order to offer an Aviculture program concurrent with the Association of Exotic Mammal Veterinarians (AEMV) practical lab. The AEMV lab will take eight hours and is titled Radiology and Diagnostic Imaging of Exotic Companion Mammals. The conference also features a one day Pre-conference Program that includes an Avian Behavioral Science Program concurrent with an AEMV Scientific Program. The Full Main Conference consists of three full days that will cover the following topics: Opening Session (cutting edge information), Diagnostics & Therapeutics, Disease Dilemmas, Lab Topics, Wildlife, Research, Case Reports, Master Classes, and Alternative Medicine.
Practical labs will be held all day Tuesday and include these topics: Avian Ultrasound, Handling, Restraint and Basic Behavioral Evaluation, Practical Avian Cardiology, An Introduction to Behavior and Training in the Veterinary Practice, Anesthesia Monitoring and Surgical Procedures, Avian Ophthalmology, Orthopedic Management of the Pectoral Limb, Basic Endoscopy, Necropsy Sampling: The Right Way, and Minimally-Invasive Endosurgery. Also, on Tuesday there will be a special 3-hour session titled An Interactive Forum: Practitioner Involvement in Avian Conservation and Avian Welfare Issues and Their Impact on Veterinary Medicine.
Additional highlights include: The Second Annual Poster Contest, 3 days at the Expo, and many exciting activities such as the Kick-off Event at the Roger Williams Park Zoo and a New England lobster dinner after touring the Audubon Society.
