SOUHRN
Infekční peritonitida koček (FIP) je výzvou pro veterináře a devastující chorobou pro kočky již více než půl století; přes značné úsilí a mnoho teorií však patogeneze stále není zcela objasněna. Klinicky se FIP projevuje ve dvou formách: efuzivní (vlhká) forma a neefuzivní (suchá) forma. Diagnostika FIP může být náročná, zvláště u neefuzivních forem, přičemž imunohistochemie je zlatým standardem diagnostiky. V posledních letech byla objevena nová antivirová léčba, která změnila osud koček s FIP; tato léčba však není ve většině zemí legálně dostupná.*
SUMMARY
Feline infectious peritonitis (FIP) has been a challenge for veterinarians and a devastating disease for cats for over half a century; however, despite marked efforts and many theories, its pathogenesis is still not fully elucidated. Clinically, FIP presents in two forms: the effusive (wet) form, and the non-effusive (dry) form. Diagnosis of FIP can be challenging, especially in the non-effusive forms, with immunohistochemistry being the gold standard diagnostic. In the recent years, new antiviral treatments have been discovered changing the fate of cats with FIP; however, these treatments are not legally available in most countries.
