SOUHRN

SUMMARY
The intestinal mycobiome is an important component of the gastrointestinal ecosystem in pigs and contributes to maintaining gut health. Its role is particularly significant during the weaning period, when the balance of the intestinal microbiome is challenged by stress, dietary changes, and altered husbandry conditions. This study focuses on the characterization of yeasts isolated from the gastrointestinal tract of domestic and wild pigs, with special emphasis on the probiotic yeast Kazachstania slooffiae. The susceptibility of K. slooffiae isolates to antifungal agents was determined using a modified broth microdilution method, and their hemolytic activity was evaluated. The results showed that none of the tested isolates exhibited hemolytic activity and, based on the assessed safety parameters, they were considered suitable for further investigation of their probiotic potential. This species represents a major component of the porcine intestinal mycobiome, and its abundance increases markedly during weaning. A better understanding of the properties of K. slooffiae may contribute to the development of synbiotic formulations combining probiotic yeasts and lactic acid bacteria, thereby supporting gut health and microbiome stability in weaned piglets.*
